Digital product illustrations
As Brex evolved beyond a high rewards credit card into a full financial stack, the brand illustration system no longer reflected the capabilities of the platform. We designed a new illustration set that both fit our brand criteria and would delight customers as they encountered them in the product.

The approach
Inspired by the curves and angles of the Brex flag logo, we aimed to develop a modular 3D shape system as the foundation of our illustrations. This would allow us to create an extensive library of assets and the flexibility for future concepts.
Signage and Narrative objects
We layered visual elements on top of the shapes to create the narrative for each illustration, where needed. We developed a visual sign language that matched our product experience to allow each illustration to tell a complete story.
FINISH and color
We explored dozens of textures and hues in search of a balance that felt both tactile and tech-forward, and represented our brand colors in the best light.
